  2. Anita,

I share the same sentiments. We have to use the technology to succeed as Reading Specialists. This is the tool that they use to communicate, so we have to teach them how it can be used for their education.

  3. Hello Anita

I totally like how you mentioned the use of computer games for learning. Once we can use the technology to support student learning it is important to make it as fun as possible. I am a serious person by nature and I always have to think how to interject in lesson planning to add some fun activity for my students. The greatest joy I get from my students is to hear them laugh when they are learning.

Enjoyment is infectious sometimes I do get frustrated over a concept that is hard to teach and I have learnt from the children to think outside the box, to do things that are not the ‘norm’ and it works most of the times.

I can see my older students using the software Microsoft Photostory 3 to create things on topics that I would never think of doing. I can’t wait to expose them to it. So Anita you are very right let’s have fun when using technology in the classroom and encourage our students to be as creative as they can.

  4. I, too, am grateful for the lab sessions Anita. The collaboration was wonderful as we worked harmoniously to solve problems and accomplish assigned tasks. One definite benefit of professional development is being a lielong learner/educator. This, for me, represents a continual vicarious entry into the learner's world--and not excluding that of the struggling learner. The experience of gaining new knowledge and accomplishing little victories can be exhilarating. Our youg readers, like ouselves, need to experientially engage. Juliet

  5. As I cast a retrospective eye on my first blog, I must confess that I have come a long way. I am indeed grateful for the collaboration and support of my peers. This caring environment in which we worked is one that must be transferred to our students: one of encouragement, one of tenacity, one of hope, one of genuine concern, and one of positive reinforcement.
